Above reaction is known as nucleophilic substitution reaction. Bimolecular nucleophilic substitution reaction follows second-order kinetics. The rate of reaction depends on the concentration of two firstorder reactants.
Hydroxide ion is stronger nucleophilie than acetate ion as in acetate ion, the negative charge is involved in resonance with carboxylic group.
Methoxide ion is more nucleophilic than hydroxide ion due to effect of methyl group. is very weak nucleophile because the negative charge is in resonance with ring and charge further decreases the order is
